Halloween Countdown ★

whaaat! there's a star instead of a heart in the title!!!!!

crazy times! 

anyway.

so i've been poorly today = the reason why i failed to make it into collegio today! bad times all round...

this means i have pretty much spent my day watching Family Guy and Mad Men... so it hasn't been all bad! ◕‿◕ 

i have something to share though, since it's October and Halloween (or Samhain or Hop tu naa or whatever you want to call it) is fast approaching, the Haunted House Halloween Showcase of images has once again been opened up on Art Wanted.com (one of my fave portfolio websites) aaaaand... i've got a couple of illustrations in the showcase!

i honestly don't have a clue where the other three pictures are but i know that the creepalicious Tattooed Pin-up Girl (see previous Blog Post - 10/10/10 ♥) is on the FRONT PAGE of the showcase!!!!!

so at the minute i think my picture is about 36th out of 50 on the front page of thumbnails. i feel very honoured to have made it onto the front page for the second year in a row. you can see the whole Showcase riiiight here - Haunted House

i got a little screencap just to keep a record of it being on the front page (i did this last year as well for my 'killer zombie heels' as well... i know i'm a saddo!)

i LOVE getting my pictures in the Halloween Showcase simply because it always seems to get me sooooo many image hits! last year the Killer Zombie heels got 1847 hits in October alone!

so i uploaded the 'Tattooed Pin-up Girl' yesterday... and she already has almost 500 hits!!! in 24 hours that's amazing for someone like me!

i sometimes get 500 hits a MONTH with the collective hits for 100 images not just 1 picture on it's own...

anyway, in other news... and literally 'news'

as i've said before, i'm not a particularly religious person and i'm definitely not much of a praying girl... 

but right now my prayers are all going to the Penniman family, praying for the swift and safe recovery of Paloma Penniman.

in case you have no idea what i'm talking about, it's all to do with the singer Mika and his family.

basically Mika's sister, Paloma had a terrible accident and is critically ill in hospital :-(

now you all know i'm a huuuuuge Mika fan, but i'm also a fan of the Family Penniman in general since they all seem to be so amazingly talented and super duper (I'm a huge fan of his sister Yasmine's wonderful illustrations + i sat near the whole brood at Mika's London gig last year and they really were the sweetest bunch of siblings!)

from left to right we have Zuleika, Yasmine, Mika, Paloma and Fortuné

i know it's literally none of my business and everything but i am a fan and it's sad to hear that she is so ill! 

they are renowned for being such a close family so my prayers go out to all of them at what must be a terribly traumatic time.

i spent the afternoon tidying my room (oh what jolly fun) and i have decided to post a few pics of my room. you may be wondering why the hell i would want to do that... but wait and see! you haven't seen my room!!!! there are so many books in there i might as well be living in my local library! 

ok, off to watch the rest of 'rude tube epic fails' which i recorded the other day. i recorded it for three very important reasons! it's very VERRRY funny, it's EPIC and full of fails and most importantly... it's presented by the adorable and rather super duper Alex Zane!

the not-so-Domestic Goddess

Today I stayed at home again only it wasn't all fun times because I had to spend the day cleaning and tidying my room!

As soon as I woke up I got stuck in and (with the addition of a few laptop infused breaks + a quick watch of Kiki's Delivery Service) managed to get it all pretty tidy and nice and clean.

I'm not exactly what you'd call a domestic Goddess... more of a domestic goat to be honest but still, I tried my best and got hoovering, scrubbing and mopping to tracks by Glen Miller, the Chordettes, Frank Sinatra, Ella Fitzgerald and so on and so forth.

You'd be surprised at just how effective music like that is to clean to, it worked a treat and I got to sing along to my hearts content.

Anyway, the music and the day of cleaning got me thinking and I remembered these awesome 50's style aprons my friend Charlotte and I found last night on a website (check them out HERE) and while my floor dried from it's mopping times I settled down for a bit of drawing.

This is what I came up with in the end, two delightfully domestic Goddesses at work in their pretty aprons baking just like I did with my friends the other day ◕‿◕

one is having a baking day while the other is having a baking night, but either way, they're both trying to entice you with their fabulous cooking skills! (and their weird hands! i guess they're not quite finished yet but it's late and i've spent hours working on them so... tough!)

ok so they're not hoovering or scrubbing like I did but they're still being good little housewives by baking up a tasty treat or two.

I've also spent this afternoon/evening sketching out a verrry special 'Girl' illustration for my friend Jeni who is going off to Uni soon. She sent me a message on Facebook this morning asking me to draw her and although there's still a few weeks before she leaves I came up with a great idea for a picture and couldn't help but get started on it right away. It's nearly done but there's still a little more I need to add to it, I hope she likes it anyway. I'll probably post it on here tomorrow so stay tuned, if you like my blog and the style of my girly illustrations then you'll LOVE what i've drawn for her!

Which reminds me, I still have to draw a picture of Charlotte as well! She asked me to draw her a Doctor Who style pin-up of her and perhaps the Tardis or something else DW related, i've got a pretty clear image in my head of what I want it to look like but we'll see if I can make it a reality... or not!

tonight i'm going to be very sensible (and boring) by making a list of things I need to take to Montenegro with me next week.

Ah yes, i'm flying out to Dubrovnik on Wednesday and then on into Montenegro for a wedding.

It's been one hell of a busy summer for me travel wise!

England, France, Belgium, Andorra, Ireland and now Croatia and Montenegro...

crazy times!

Week of Blogging - Day 4

once again this is a late blog, i got distracted this morning listening to Italian opera, and then this evening watching 'Gladiator' (i'm slowly making my way through all the old DVD's i rediscovered whilst cleaning my room) which is a truly EPIC film, anyway i haven't been feeling too creative today, i spent most of the day tidying up, i've got some friends coming to visit me tomorrow, i haven't seen a single person for 2 days so i'm beginning to lose the plot slightly!

anyway this is what i ended up doing this afternoon after i went for a walk. for a while now i've been contemplating buying a Pullip doll. they fascinate me, i absolutely LOVE them, well... most of them anyway. however i don't love their price tags!

the drawing i ended up doing is based on a photo of a cute doll off pullipstyle.com, i can't remember the name or year of the doll but it was in my head so i drew it regardless. initially i had a go at colouring the drawing in a sort of disney inspired style (which i quickly abandoned). i admire people that can do it, i however cannot as you can see here! by the way neither of these are finished but this is a week of blogging so i HAVE to post something every single day! i HATE the eyes but like i said... i had to post something!

Week of Blogging - Day 1

ok so i know i said i'd blog every day but technically there are still about 14 mins left of today so... it's officially STILL Monday!

i actually had a whole load of fan arts planned for today but due to unforeseen circumstances (aka my mum bossing me about) i ended up spending the day cleaning and tidying instead!

TOMORROW i shall spend the day drawing! and possibly watching old Rodgers and Hammersteins musicals on DVD (during my tidy up i may have re-discovered a heap of old DVD's otherwise lost to the mess of my room!)

right, bed time now!

tomorrows blog shall include pictures... and THAT is a promise!
