Endless Embroidery ♥

hello, long time no... post!

ok i'm sorry but i started college again this week and have therefore been rather busy as i'm sure you can imagine!

anyway, i have a new finished piece! (yaaaay)

since i'm not allowed to do digital illustrations any more i've settled on sewing stuff instead!

why?!

because i'm clearly a little bit insane.

that is why...

this piece was inspired by the super super embroidery book 'Embroidered Effects' by Jenny Hart i mentioned in THIS post before Xmas - Family and Friends

apologies for the crappy photo quality but we all know how much my camera sucks!

so basically this is all embroidered onto an A4 (ish) sized canvas

i picked the canvas apart to sew into it and put it all back together so it can hang on the wall etc etc

it was all sewn entirely by hand and when you sew into canvas you have to pierce every single hole to stitch one by one before you can complete the stitch

to say it has been a long process is a bit of an understatement to be honest!

i actually finished it at about lunchtime as you can see here...

but thought it was a bit empty so... bluebirds/swallows were added!

and NO i don't plan to fill in any more parts with full colour since doing the satin stitch on the blood drops nearly made my brain explode

this is a test piece so it's supposed to be not entirely perfect (yes i just said that, i the ridiculously picky perfectionist just said it doesn't have to be perfect!)

also in case you were wondering, this is how the pinup-girl-face-lady thing is coming along...

yeah there's still quite a lot of hair to sew but i've actually run out of embroidery silk/floss so i'm not sure how to finish her yet!

to see how she has progressed so far, you can check the first post about her here - who ya gonna call?

* * *

yeah that's pretty much it for today,

nothing happens in my life, at least not during the first few weeks of January

it should pick up a bit in February though, it usually does!

ok until next time dudes and dudettes,

that's all folks...

Ευχαριστώ πολύ και αντίο

(that's thank you and goodbye in Greek on behalf of Greece... sadly i've never visited Greece despite my massive nerdy love of Greek Mythology, Art and Architecture, someday i'll get to see it all for myself, i hope Ευχαριστώ x)
