Super Sunday #2 ♥

wow it's been a few days since my last post!

big apologies, i've been stupidly busy with this project i'm working on for a company i'm not allowed to name for an event i'm not allowed to talk about...

oh you're intrigued now i bet!

well tough... it's remaining a secret until i get permission to reveal it to you all

(i have got permission, just not yet and i know when the date is but you don't! mwah ha ha ha ha!!! *evil villain laugh*)

anyway, all i am allowed to tell you at this time is that on Friday afternoon during College times i got a call summoning me to the College reception where i took delivery of a massive box of... BRIGHT RED Lego

best delivery ever?! definitely my best college delivery to date (sorry Ash, those flowers i won were truly gorgeous but come on... it's Lego!)

there's no point hiding what was in the box since i've been 'tweeting' and 'facebooking' about it all weekend

however... i can't tell you who sent me the Lego, why they sent me it and... most importantly, what it's for!

what i can tell you is that having it has been SO MUCH FUN!!!!!

i'd forgotten how much i freaking LOVE playing with Lego! LEGO LEGO LEGGGOOOOO

* * *

anyway on with the post! as you may have noticed, it's a Sunday which means...

it's time for another 'Super Sunday' post ♥

you can check out last weeks 'Super Sunday' post here -

* * *

this week after a long hard think about what i should post about i thought... 'come on, it's obvious who i think deserves a 'Super Sunday' dedication' and so i went with that!

so this week, Super Sunday is all about... (drumroll)

the fabulous, truly genius and quite literally amazing...
Monsieur Christian Louboutin

that's right... this weeks post goes out to sing the praises of the man who is without a doubt... MY favourite Shoe Designer in the world!

(this doesn't mean i don't love other shoes designers, it just means he's my favourite. because he totally is ok!)

but what can i say! since i first spotted that eternally sumptuous red sole on a pair of stilettos years and years and years ago... i've been hooked!

so why do i adore him + his gorgeous shoes so damn much?!

well there are lots of reasons, let's review them shall we...

1: he uses bright red soles on all his shoes, it's a signature part of all his designs and i don't think i need to remind you all that my favourite colour is indeed red glorious RED!

2: his shoes are quite literally Gods gift to women! made of the most gorgeous materials with beautiful finishes, dazzling embellishments and quite possibly the sexiest looking heels in all of fashion (that flash of red ALWAYS catches peoples attention) his shoes are a thing of sheer beauty on or off a woman's foot...

3: he's also a fantastic illustrator! his shoes themselves are often like works of art but his initial design drawings could easily be hung on the walls of a gallery or sold as prints... i'd buy one! or several...

and he also collaborated with the Paris based, Ladurée bakery (creator of the most delicious and most darling looking macaroons in the world) and created a series of illustrations to adorn their adorable little boxes...  trés génial! c'est incoryable non!

4: he's a fan of Mika and since designing a whole fleet (yes... a fleet) of shoes for the singer's worldwide tour, the two have also become great friends!

need i say more... we all know that Mika is my favourite singer right?! well... my favourite singer and my favourite Shoe designer are friends, could i honestly ask for more?! plastic toy squirt guns? ... way ahead of you!

5: he hasn't just stopped at creating fabulous Shoes! he also turned his ridiculously creative mind and hands to designing beautiful little evening bags and handbags, much to the rapturous delight of women everywhere!

and just like his shoes, these bags hold a delicious little flash of that signature red too, the lining is always bright red and the bags often incorporate this darling little clasp made of a pair of super high heels, which if you look verrrry closely, you will notice also have red soles... magic!

6: he even worked on a collaboration with 'Barbie' creating what may just be the most fashion forward and well shod doll in the entire world!

7: he has an incredibly awesome website! www.christianlouboutin.fr is so jam packed with super duper snaps of shoes and bags + it's always fun to look around since there's lots of flying shoes and interactive glittery bits mixed in with a little bit of animation... genius!

it also tells you where in the world you are (in case you forget...) but that's not the point, the point is that it shows MY location as the Isle of Man which is a true rarity indeed since most sites i visit tell me in in England! so merci beacoup for that Monsieur Louboutin!

seriously you would not believe how long it took me to get that screencap off his site! the shoes were moving all over the place and it was reaaaaallly tricky! but such is my love for you all (and surprisingly for those shoes) i persevered and got the cap!

and although i could easily carry on numbering reasons why he's so AWESOME, i shan't do any more... promise!
so yes i'm a MASSIVE fan of his shoes and yes i think he's a true design legend but in a way it's kind of sad for me to spout all this stuff about the loveliness of Louboutins!

so why is it sad? well apart from the fact i don't actually own a pair of Louboutin masterpieces... i've never even tried on a pair!!! (collective gasp)
and no it's not because i've never seen them in a store... come on! it's me here! i had to be dragged away from the Louboutin dept in Brown Thomas, Dublin this Summer!

 hell i would LIVE in Selfridges, Harvey Nichols or Harrods if they'd let me and i lost count of how many times i spotted them on sale the last time i was in Las Vegas!
i mean yes i drooled over them like a silly fangirl and i stood and 'oohed' and 'aahed' at their gorgeousness but i just couldn't bring myself to try on a pair!

why? well it's quite simple... i have this theory that if i ever try on a pair of his shoes i will be so overcome with shoe lust i'll HAVE to buy them no matter what!

and so far i really haven't worked out if i'll be able to overcome 'buyers guilt' for a pair of them so for now... i shall remain Louboutin-less!

but i can live with that because as long as Monsieur Louboutin continues to make fabulous shoes... i shall continue to lust after them and then you know that one day i'll probably end up with a room full of them or something!

it'll happen... i'll make sure it will!

Merci beaucoup Christian, vous êtes étonnant et merveilleux xX

in other news...

it was the last F1 race of the season today, the 'biggie' and although the odds seemed to be on Spains Fernando Alonso (driving for Ferrari)  to win the championship... the race didn't go too well for him so instead...

F1 now has it's youngest champion in history because 23-year-old Sebastian Vettel of Germany (driving for red Bull) won the race AND the world championship!!!!!

yaaaaaaaay for Sebastian!

it was an extra awesome race since Britain's Lewis Hamilton and Jenson Button (both driving for McLaren) finished in 2nd and 3rd so as it turned out...

my 3 favourite F1 drivers were all on the podium!

this = good times indeed!

* * *

ok that's another Super Sunday post is in the bag i think,

i'm all happy from the F1 result so on that note i'm off to make some butter popcorn and pop on a moooovie

have a nice Sunday

that's all folks...

more BPL shoes ♥

So i've been busy today with College stuff but when I got home I got a nice message off Leah (of BPL fame and fabulousness) on twitter telling me about what a super success BPL day was on the 20th October

so in light of this...

here's another post dedicated to the gorgeous genius that is... Black Patent Leather High Heels!

Here's a shot Leah sent me of the super duper BPL shoes she rocked for BPL day

totally amazingly and unbelievably gorgeous shoes!

So... to join in (and since she asked to see my shoes too) here's a little shot of my BPL collection...

it's obviously not anywhere near as impressive as Leah's, seeing as i only have 2 pairs of BPL shoes... but I luuuurve them both nonetheless

and here are a few more shots that Leah emailed me, of people all around the world that took part in this years BPL day...

some great shots right! she sent me 32 shots in all so i picked out my faves and posted them on here for your personal enjoyment...

sadly i never got any photos sent to me from any of YOU... but

hopefully next year YOU can be a part of this too!

anyway, big thanks to Leah for the photos and don't forget, if you want to find out more about BPL Day and BPL shoes in general, check out the facebook group here and become a member - THE NEW BPL SHOE GROUP

* * *

anyway in other news... i broke up for half term today which means NO college for a week! yaaaaay, good times!

so today i started a new little digital painting on photoshop just to try and get to grips with using the tools and having a go at various effects. it's JUST a test!

so using this extreeeeeeemely rough sketch

which is originally based on this super cute little image by 'zerosshadow' which i spotted whilst browsing on deviantART. see the original here on his super deviantART page - zerosshadow

however... if that watermark on the picture is anything to go by i have reason to believe this piece is actually by this person, but i can't find it on her site - Artwork by Gabrielle

anyway... this is what i've done so far...

now like i said... it's just a test so it's supposed to be all messy and rough, i'm still learning this stuff so... bear with me! oh i don't have a 'tablet' either (sadly) so this is taking me forever to work on!

this is just a sort of 'under coat' as well (to use a painting term... indeed) so that's why there's hardly any shading or tone of any kind... it WILL be added at some point!

so hopefully i'll get her finished soon though there's no rush really since i have a WHOLE WEEK OFF COLLEGE!!!!

not sure if i mentioned that... i'm a little bit excited about it! not sure if you can tell!

* * *

errrrgh! i feel sick with nerves and freaking out-ness (not gayness... whatever Mike thinks, that is NOT what i'm sick with! he clearly is... but i am not)

i just had to re-release our broadband since i accidentally used up all the 'allowance' for this month...

oh dear

bad skype... it's all your fault i swear!

anyway... that's £12 i'm never going to see again!

ergh! £12 for a week of internet... i am a complete and utter... idiot

i PROMISE it won't happen again (cross my heart!)

and on that note i'll say adieu

that's all folks...

BPL shoes ♥

so the last few days haven't delivered much in the way of news so instead i'm going to post about something else entirely!

duh-duh-duuuuuuuh

the day is finally (almost) here

for those of you not in the know (unlike me...) tomorrow is International BPL heels day

shall I explain? I shall indeed...

basically, tomorrow is 'Black Patent Leather' (BPL) heel day

it's all been orchestrated by the lovely Leah who got in touch with me a few months ago about her love of BPL's and about wanting to bring the event to the masses

she really is a super shoe idol, she takes being a shoe lover to a whole new level, just check out this shot of her CUSTOM MADE BPL's

jealous much? i know i am!

this is what she had to say about starting the BPL movement and her love of shoes...

"I have loved black patent leather heels since the first day I started playing around in my mother's closet as a little girl. I have over 40 pair of BPL's starting with my favorites which are the custom made ones in the profile picture. I do have several Louboutin's as well all in black patent.

 There is something about black patent leather shoes that make me so sexy, confident, and just all around fabulous that I'm totally hooked. One of the reasons for BPL heel day was to honor the most spectacular dress shoe for women in history. All of us addicts know just how important they are in our life"

for more information (and a gallery full of awesome BPL shoes) check out her super facebook page here - BPL shoe group or follow her on Twitter - BPL

i was more than happy to get involved and help promote the day via Twitter and my blog since i'm a total shoe-a-holic myself anyway and she just seemed so passionate about the subject it was a pleasure to help out

so what is it about Black Patent Leather shoes for me you may ask?

well ever since i was a little girl i've always loved shoes in general but Black Patent ones have played a particular role in my life

for as long as i can remember, BPL's have signified posh 'dressing up' occasions like Christmas, New Year and pretty much any evening out or party during my childhood.

i also remember being dragged out to be fitted for my brand new School shoes every year, we always went to the same place to get my annual pair of start-rite school shoes + a pair of fancy patent ones for special occasions.
these darling little patent leather baby shoes are by start-rite, i seem to recall owning a similar pair when i was about 4 or 5. but i would have also had little pairs of shoes more similar to these...

cute right? It's a shame really since nowadays BPL's have in a way been slightly ruined. I don't know why but some people seem to consider them as being almost tacky! i don't know how you can still call them tacky when you know they're the 'real deal' but there you go...

come on... teamed with the seamed stockings and a pencil skirt that is one seriously sultry fashion statement!!! and for what it's worth i think BPL's are just gorrrrgeous...

i think it's mainly because black patent LEATHER can often be mistaken for cheap PVC (it's the sheen I guess) and then they just lose all their glamour and purpose. I suppose it also doesn't help that they're usually so synonymous with fetish fashion, like these seriously bad little beauties!

ouch! they make my feet hurt just looking at them! but not all BPL's have to be so devilish (not to mention excruciating) what about these super sweet Dolce & Gabbana courts with a leopard print sole...

 or these by... well actually i don't know who they're by but my golly gosh they're pretty damn fabulous aren't they! look at that golden sole! and those heels! blimey they're more like dangerous weapons than shoes...

but lets not dither about here! i mean how could we honestly talk about delectable shoes without including a pair of 'to-die-for' BPL "d'Orsay" stilettos by the Shoe God Christian Louboutin...
they really are a thing of beauty aren't they! god i could stare at his shoes all day i really could!

i guess i don't know exactly what it is about BPL's. i think it has a lot to do with my childhood since i know my mum has always loved Black Patent Leather as well, i guess it's stuck with me a bit!

i think that it's even what inspired me to pick my current mobile phone...
i mean look at the design! it's colours are just like a Louboutin shoe! it's sad that even my phone was chosen because of my love of shoes!

i can't help it though! even now when i walk into the shoe dept of a luxury brand store like Selfridges, Harvey Nichols, Brown Thomas, Neiman Marcus, Bergdorf Goodman's etc etc i can't help but be drawn to the lustrous shine of a patent heel (Christian Louboutin's stilettos being an absolute favourite of course!)

designer shoes in general often turn me into a gushing giggling wreck and will literally send me skipping round a shoe display with girlish happiness but there is something so special, so precious and almost decadent about  a black patent shoe...

* * *

ok i think i've gushed enough for tonight, so basically the point of this post was... take part in BPL day tomorrow and show your love and appreciation of black patent by wearing your favourite BPL's

it doesn't matter if they're ballet flats or towering heels, brogues or boots... if they're black, patent and leather then wear them and support the movement

it's not just for girls either, guys can join in too if they dig out a pair of BPL's, it doesn't have to JUST be heels to show your support you know...

by the way... if anyone else is taking part in this tomorrow, email me a photo of you in your fave BPL's and i'll post it on the blog (visit my website for my email address here - Jade Boylan Illustration)

that's all folks...
