Silly Little Strawberries ★

so today i have been very VERY busy

i woke up early (early for me!) and finished off a logo commission for a local company, then i edited a packaging design for another local business, then i locked myself away in my sewing cave (aka my bedroom) which is where i've been cooped up for the rest of the day

but look at what i made!!!

i finally used some of the flower patterned felt i bought aaaaages ago + some lovely little scrap fabric bits and pieces to make this little kimono

it took forever to make though since i sew everything by hand, my mum attempted to set up the old sewing machine for me but it just won't work, i wasted a good hour this morning on it but it just keeps jamming and making scary buzzing noises so i gave up!

anyway this little lovely is called 'Kimiko' and i hope you like her

i made another new little doll as well, little being the operative word since i messed up the templates a bit and ended up with much smaller body parts, the plus side was that she's so small the little blue dress i made yesterday actually fits her

but that's not all folks because as you may have gathered from today's blog title, i've not JUST been sewing dolls . . .

thaaaaat's right! i've been making some strawberry charms

quite a few in fact since i actually ended up making seven!!!

i made them all this afternoon after drawing some strawberries for a clients logo design, i guess it inspired me!

these are very similar to the first strawberry charm i made

you know . . . this one

only this time i used tiny glass seed beads for the pips instead of french knots, mainly to save my sanity but also because a little bit of sparkle is nice

what do you think?

tomorrow i'm heading into college to try and catch up on everything that i've missed + get some more sewing done, i'm thinking maybe cupcakes or toadstools for tomorrow!

tata for now

things that begin with 'S' ★

sunshine, strawberries, scrumptious, sweets, sauce, sprinkles, social, stalls, super stuff and Sienna

all things that begin with 'S'

(it will all become clear don't worry!)

right so today i went to the 'on your doorstep' exhibition at the Villa Marina with my mum + my little cousin Sienna to have a skeet at all the lovely Manx things on display

one of the main things i was excited to see was the 'Cupcake Creations' stall

i've visited their website lots of times before + spoken to them on Twitter (@CCIOM) but it was nice to actually meet Sarah and see all the yummy cupcakes for real

here's Sarah posing with one of her 'cupcake creations'

the display was amazing and the cupcakes looked truly scrumptious, they had a DIY cupcake decorating option as well and since little Miss Sienna is so fussy with cakes, i let her pick her own toppings

in the end she went with heaps of chocolate sauce, chocolate mini eggs, smarties and a mini jammy dodger...

i picked one too only mine was covered in vanilla frosting tinted with pink and covered in glittery bits

i can tell you now that it was indeed... delicious!!!

for more info about these tasty little freshly baked homemade cupcakes for every occasion, check out the Cupcake Creations website here - IOM Cupcake Creations

i should point out as well that Sienna actually ate all of hers, to the point where she was licking the crumbs and sauce off the cake case!

oh i'll show you my nails as well, in keeping with the little strawberry necklace i made last week, i painted my nails to match...

so what else? well to be honest i didn't get the chance to take many photos of the exhibition stalls, the place was absolutely packed and it was tricky making your way around all of the displays let alone snapping photos of them all!

i did manage to get a photo of the Groudle Glen Railway stall though, and Alex (or 'the train man' as Sienna calls him) pulled his very best model pose while i took a quick shot of the display

we'll probably be taking Sienna to the Easter trains next month which should be super fun as always,

in case you'd like to book yourself some tickets or find out more about getting involved with the railway, here's the website - GGR

one of the other main reasons i actually left the house today was to meet my friend Joseph at the villa because he had a truly awesome amazing and ruddy fantastical present for me!!!

since i'm not much of a 'gamer' anymore he's given me my very own purple gamecube to play on and even managed to get me a copy of my favourite old gamecuve game 'Pikmin'

i can't even begin to tell you how excited i am to be playing this again! this used to be my favourite game console and game to play on and i can't believe he has given me this!!!!

thank you thank you thank you!!!

Joseph... you are a star!

it's been a really super day to be honest, i've met with quite a few lovely new friends and caught up with lots of old ones + i saw my big sister Nikki for a bit as well which was nice

i guess i should actually bother to leave the house more if i want to catch up with people like i did today!

i got to pop in and see the new David Maddrell exhibition at the Sayle Gallery as well. big thanks to Joseph for coming with me since i don't really like to visit the gallery by myself (don't ask). and of course for carting the awesome gamecube all the way down into town for me!

* * *

oh i thought i'd share these pics of Sienna's doodles for you all to see,

she got this great notebook from the Manx National Heritage stall and it didn't take her long to start sketching away in it

these two show a giraffe with a shark on it's head and a picture of me scared of the 'shiraffe'

and these two are both drawings of me

she's clearly inherited my artistic skills!

and that's it, enjoy the rest of your weekend wherever you are

nothing else to say,

that's all folks...

Cupcake Charms ★

so today i stayed in for once and didn't brave the hustle and bustle of Douglas town centre

instead i slept in very late (so sooo lazy) and spent the day finishing the two little felt charms i started making yesterday afternoon

would you like to see them... of course you would!

i sewed out the basic parts for these yesterday at college but didn't have any bar beads or fibre fill stuffing to complete them!

as you can see i've gone blanket stitch crazy (now that i can finally do it, why stop!!!)

there is a pale pink one and a bright pink one, with little shiny colourful bar beads and pink ribbon (from the ribbon selection i bought yesterday at 'Just Enough'

the french knots on the strawberry cover the whole thing (+ the seam at the back) so these little cupcakes also have detail and beads on both sides
i still need to get chains for them (since i'm using stuff from my own jewellery collection at the moment) so when i do i guess they'll be going up for sale on the etsy shop as well

or maybe on a keyring or something... either way, they will be available to buy

in other news...

DAFFODILS!!!!

we have a big bunch of daffodils in our kitchen and the presence of daffodils means only one thing to me... Spring is finally here

i don't care what the calendars say or the lighter mornings, the green leaves and the constantly singing birds, as far as i'm concerned it's officially Spring when the daffodils appear!

* * *

short but sweet today i guess, if the weather stays nice i'm planning a little walk into Ballaglass Glen tomorrow afternoon so if that happens i'll take my camera along so you can all see how gorgeous it is in the glen!

enjoy your weekend whatever you're up to

that's all folks...

Friday Fun ★

firstly... i fixed the sidebar looook >>>
i fixed it last night with my amazing html skills in disguise... because i am a little bit of a
genius!

ok on with the post...

so today was actually a pretty good day

it ended up especially awesome since i FINALLY got to visit the 'Just Enough' store in Laxey

it's no exaggeration when i say that i have quite literally been desperate to go to this shop for months and months and months!

but because the parking outside it is always so busy i've never gotten the chance to pop by for a visit... until today!!!

sadly i didn't have my camera with me (just my crummy mobile which would NOT have done the place justice) but believe me, it is the most amazing and gorgeous haberdashery shop i have EVER been to... ever!

every day i drive past and peek in the shop windows which are always full of all manner of awesome things, including big Betty Boop statuettes (and we all know how much i LOVE Betty Boop) + gorgeous colourful gypsy style chandeliers and swathes of glorious fabric

before i'd even stepped foot in the door i'd pretty much established that is is 'me' in shop form...

so what did i get i hear you cry!

well after i'd stopped hyperventilating from how amazing the place was i chose a little selection of haberdashery bits and bobs

the place is full of gorgeous bits and bobs like these!

i have NO idea what i'll use the bits for but i had to have them regardless...

also went a bit yampy over all the super duper reels of ribbon that were stacked on the shelves

aaarrrghhhh it was SOOOO magical in there!

i mean LOOK... polka dot and heart patterned ribbon!!! it's just soooo darn lovely!

i didn't get that much stuff really which i regret now, i just couldn't stop running around the shop staring at everything it really was all so pretty!

i intend to go back as soon as i can to snap some photos so you can all see how fabulous it is (Justine the owner kindly said she'd let me take some photos so next time i visit i will DEFINITELY take my camera) + get my hands on some more gorgeous haberdashery stuff

* * *

i actually made it into college nice and early today (well 9:15am is verrry early for me!) and had a pretty fruitful day work wise

i edited the little mini marie antoinette style girl and printed out a few A3 and A4 copies

she looked divine printed out! even my tutor Andy liked the images + kept asking what happens in the story

tricky really since i've only half written it so far so i can't really answer yet!

i also cracked on with a bit of sewing

now the other two things i'm in the middle of making aren't quite finished yet, but this one is...

yes it's a yummy strawberry necklace!!!

this big ol' squishy plush strawberry was handmade today (by me) using felt, embroidery floss + fibre fill stuffing

the pips are french knots (FINALLY mastered the french knot... YESSSS!) and the stalk is blanket stitched in place (also mastered blanket stitch... successful day today stitch wise)

i've added the pretty little red gingham bow i got from 'Just Enough' and i plan to sell this little lovely on my etsy store soon

it's on a big ol' long chain as well so it hangs just below the waist

ignoring the abysmal photo quality... what do you think of it dudes and dudettes???

* * *

that's all for today i think

i'm not sure what i'm up to tomorrow yet, i'll either head into Doolish town to see my cousins or i'll stay at home and practice being a hermit

until next time

that's all folks...
