Wizard Wednesday ♥

so i promised i'd do a little post today didn't i!

well today i've been busy sorting stuff for my trip to Ireland tomorrow + working on some commission files

anyway, on Wednesday (as in, the Wednesday just gone) i had a brilliantly busy day in Douglas here on the island

i spent the morning trawling around the shops looking for goodies to put in the giveaway (don't for get to enter! - August Giveaway)

then in the afternoon i got to visit my cousins Gary and Sharon + their kids Robson, Hanna and my little god-daughter Bonnie

it's been a couple of months since i last saw Bonnie and Hanna so it was lovely to spend some time with them

we had a good giggle doing some drawing and colouring, + playing with Oscar the cat

i got the girls a special little treat since i know they're both such big fans of Hello Kitty (Bonnie has a HK pencil case and school bag) i got them Hello Kitty marshmallow lollipops!

which unsurprisingly... went down rather well with the two little ladies!

they didn't want to eat them at first though! Hanna just kept sniffing hers...

but after a while Bonnie realised how yummy Hello Kitty's ears were!

oh it was so great to see them! i've missed both soooo much!!!

they're just the sweetest little sweethearts!

anyway after that i had to go all the way down to Ronaldsway to collect my dad from the airport, we stopped for a coffee/frescato at the new Costa at the sea terminal before heading to the gorgeous old Gaiety Theatre and Opera house on Douglas Promenade to see the Taylorian production of 'The Wizard of Oz'

i may have mentioned it before but i'm a big BIG fan of Musicals both on film and on the stage, i've always loved the book and i loved the movie of the Wizard of Oz as well so when i found out this was going to be on at the Gaiety i really REALLY wanted to go!

luckily... my lovely mother won a pair of tickets to go and see it and since my dad is such a big fan of Musical's too, he took me along to see it

i love going to the theatre! especially to the Gaiety, it is one of my favourite buildings on the island, so so beautiful, i just love it

i've grown up visiting the theatre to watch shows + i've taken part and helped backstage in a few as well over the years. i've been coming to the Gaiety for as long as i can remember actually, i just love it! it's gorgeous outside but the interior is even more amazing!

isn't it beautiful!

anyway back to the point, the show was incredible! such an amazingly talented cast of Manxies, the sets, costumes, lighting, music and acting was just top notch! i loved every minute of it :)

if you live local i definitely recommend you go and see it! my friend Shiny went with her family last Tuesday to see it and my cousins went to see the matinee performance this afternoon and they all LOVED it too! in fact, i haven't heard a bad review of it yet because it's just THAT good!

* * *

anyway not much else for today, sorry for all the uber personal posts lately! i'm sure you don't just come here to read about my day to day life! or do you...

ah well, Ireland tomorrow so you can expect lots of lovely shopping and scenery filled posts! + i've got a couple of Creative Café features up my sleeve as well so watch out for those!

until then, that's all folks... ★ ◕‿◕ xX

Super Sunday #3 ♥

So it's that time of the week again, it's time for another 'Super Sunday'

I asked my friends and family who I should dedicate this weeks 'Super Sunday' post to but they didn't really help!

For instance, Mike suggested I write this weeks post about him... but I told him that he isn't quite famous enough for a 'Super Sunday' dedication just yet!

Sorry Mike!

Anyway, moving on...

this week i decided to honour a person that i genuinely do consider to be one of my idols (yes it's a big deal... i don't have that many idols ok)

i've been a MASSIVE fan of his work for quite a few years now and i expect i'll remain a fan FOREVER since he's so god-damn hilarious!!!

i'll give you a clue shall i?!

does this help...

that's right dudes and dudettes, this week's 'Super Sunday' post is all about the wonderful, incredibly funny and rather fabulous Mr Seth MacFarlane...

for those of you unfamiliar with the sheer force of genius that is Seth MacFarlane, let me enlighten you a little...

he's an American animator, writer, comedian, actor, singer and all round general GENIUS!!!

ok i should explain why he's getting a 'Super Sunday' dedication!

basically... he created the animated TV show 'Family Guy' and i don't know if i've mentioned this before but 'Family Guy' is my FAVOURITE TV show!!! (FACT)

yes i'm a big 'Doctor Who' fangirl, yes i love to watch 'Mad Men' for hours on repeat and yes i've seen every episode of 'Father Ted' multiple times but as far as i'm concerned... 'Family Guy' tops them all... EVERY single time!

so why is the post dedicated to Seth MacFarlane and not 'Family Guy' I hear you cry?

well i don't just love 'Family Guy', it's just so happens that i adore the other animated shows he's created as well!

like 'American Dad'

and 'The Cleveland Show'
and 'Seth's Cavalcade of Cartoon Comedy' (which i watched 5 times in a row... had some lunch then watched it again)

to be perfectly honest it's hard not to adore a writer and animator that's produced spoofs on everything from music videos, celebrities, movies, historic events and everything in between! and of course... the truly magnificent 'Star Wars' spoofs

if you've never seen any of his hit shows (and you REALLY should see them as soon as possible) then you're probably wondering why he deserves a 'Super Sunday' post!

well Mr MacFarlane isn't just an amazing animator, a hilarious writer and a wonderful voice actor (as if that isn't enough to warrant a blog post dedication)

he's also got a truly AWESOME singing voice

in fact he's so multitalented it should be illegal!!!
you may not know this but i also happen to be a HUUUUGE fan of 'Musicals' and i literally grew up watching and listening to them all the time since my dad is also a massive 'Musicals' fan

well... one of the many things i LOVE about 'Family Guy' is all the Musical numbers they put in the show, and since Seth is the voice behind most of the characters in the show, that means it's his singing that makes all those numbers so super duper

by the way in case you genuinely were wondering... my favourite Musical is probably 'the Music Man' closely followed my 'My fair Lady' and 'The Sound of Music'
though when it comes to 'Family Guy' related Musical scenes, i think watching Peter Griffin sing 'Shipoopi' from 'the Music Man' has to be one of my top 'Family Guy' moments ever...

closely followed by Stewie Griffin singing 'I've grown accustomed to her face' from 'My Fair Lady'

and of course... Brian Griffin singing just about anything since Brian is the one character Seth MacFarlane uses his real voice for...

which brings me back to my original point... Seth MacFarlane can really sing! i mean obviously he can sing, he sings in the show all the time but my god... he really can sing!!!

i've seen clips of him singing at the BBC Proms and at 'Family Guy Live' shows but the more i listen to him, the more i can't get over how good his voice is!

if you've a bit of time to spare and happen to be a fan of all the lovely old 'Musicals' then give this little video a watch. he sings 3 songs from 'High Society' and... just wow! what a voice (he shows up at about 0:45 seconds in)

he's actually currently on tour in the UK going round all the major towns and cities doing performances, sadly i'm not going to see him but if anyone else is, be sure to let me know how awesome the show is!

and that's enough fangirl rambling for today i think!

if you can't stand 'Family Guy' and you don't like Seth MacFarlane... then you're probably not worth knowing!

what i mean to say is... then i'm sorry for subjecting you to this little 'Super Sunday' dedication... please tune in next week for something completely different!

Happy Super Sunday and of course... massive MASSIVE thanks to the genius that is, Mr Seth MacFarlane for just being so awesome and for having created a show that never fails to cheer me up no matter how miserable i may be!

it quite literally never fails to put a smile back on my face...

i know you're a fellow atheist Seth... but God-bless ya!!!

in other news...

i finished another few brand new 'Girl' Illustrations but since this has been such a long post i'm going to save them until tomorrow.

it's been snowing on and off all day and ALL of the Islands schools (+ my college) are shut tomorrow due to the weather!

i LOVE it! snow snow snow everywhere!

just gorgeous!

enjoy the rest of your Sunday wherever you are + whatever you're up to!

that's all folks...

scary times ★

hello dudes and dudettes, before i get on with todays post i have to ask a big favour of you all...

you may (or may not) have noticed the little 'tick' boxes at the bottom of my blog posts

they invite you to 'tick' whether you find my posts 'funny', 'interesting' or 'super duper'

now i love watching the 'ticks' build up on these but i've noticed that lately the 'ticks' seem to go up when i first submit the post and then mysteriously go down by the next day...

seeing as there isn't a 'lame' or 'boring' box to tick i'm guessing that some of you lovely people are visiting my blog more than once and 'ticking' the boxes again to help boost the numbers

however... when you do this it actually DELETES your original tick and the numbers go down!

my mum worked this one out when she tried to repeatedly 'tick' the 'super duper' box on a post (bless her) and the ticks went from 8 to 3 in a matter of seconds and i nearly cried!!!

so the favour is this...

if you're sweet enough to visit my blog and you think a post deserves a few ticks that's GREAT

but if you happen to visit it again or are just flicking through the posts, do not (repeat DO NOT) tick a post you've already 'ticked' because it will just cancel out your original tick and i will get very sad and have to raid the freezer for the ice cream to cheer myself up!

does that make sense?

don't click the 'tick' if you've already clicked it once...

anyways thanks for your time... on with the post!

* * * * *

so i drew another Pinup/Burlesque Girl today!

as promised i said i'd draw a 'raven haired sister' for the 3 Girls i've already drawn this week

so...

we've had a blonde, a brunette and a redhead!

i like to mix my 'Girls' hair colours about so that all parties are represented!

but what about all those girls out there with gloriously inky, devilishly dark, ebony curls!

well...

the only problem is! i'm struggling to come up with a name for her!!!

for the time being i've decided on 'see anything you like?'

but i don't know... i think it's a bit of a lame name!

if anyone can come up with a better one, let me know and i'll put it to a public vote!

i don't know why i'm even asking! no-one bothers to comment half the time...

anyway, there's four of them now.

four very different girls each with a nice happy coloured background

here's the full set in one image...

i'm back in college tomorrow so we'll see what my tutors will make of these!

fingers crossed it's good news...

* * *

i've been talking to Mike for the past few hours, he was at the big Tuition Fees protests earlier today in Central London although luckily he left before it all turned ugly!

we've both been watching BBC news 24 since about 4pm and it's just scary to see how much the protests escalated outside the Conservative Party HQ, 30 Millbank!!!

the videos and photos of protesters smashing in all the reception windows is really shocking!

some people set fire to their placards and built a bonfire in the Tower courtyard. it's scary stuff indeed!

i don't agree with the Tuition Fee Cuts but i don't see how violence like this is the answer!

whether or not the students themselves are to blame, todays events at Millbank won't be the answer!

saying all that though, and as serious and as un-funny a situation as it is...

i think 'tweet' of the day (regarding the events) goes to 'SimonNRicketts' for this gem:

I picture David Cameron coming home, looking at the state of Millbank and saying to Nick Clegg: "I told you NO parties. You're grounded."

i now it was a scary thing to happen but come on... that is kind of funny! it made me giggle anyway and God knows i could do with a laugh after watching the news for so long!

also...

Mike happily informed me that THESE signs were made by his friends and that he was with them during the early afternoons calm marching times! very good signs...

* * *

ok i'm going to make a cup of tea and put on some sort of soothing film (Disney maybe)

i think i've been watching these demonstrations on the news for too long, it's really getting me down!

apologies for all the political palaver as well, i know that's not why you read my blog but this was important so i wanted to include it.

that's all folks...

 ♥

oh and don't forget to click the 'ticks' only ONCE each... cheers m'dears!

'thanks and goodbye'

(yep... it's another English speaking country! so thanks for the page views Australia)
