Marvellous Merch ❤️

hello dearhearts! It's been a fortnight since I got back from my holidays in Ireland and I have been SUPER busy since I got home.

I'm having a stall at the local Vintage Fashion Fair this weekend and have been working hard every day to get new products ready + sorting out existing goodies to take to the fair!

so I thought I might give you all a sneak peek at some of the tasty new treats i'll be selling at my stall!

if you follow me on Instagram (and by now, you really should if you don't already!) then you'll probably have seen snaps of my new products but for those of you that haven't, here are some of the candy cute items i'll have of offer on Saturday...

first up we have some luuurrrvely new Candy Doll Club postcards! it's been a good while since I last got any new postcards printed so I thought it was about time I got some of my more recent illustrations made up. There are six new Candy Doll designs to choose from.

As well as three cute fanart designs as well. I picked three of my fave ladies from Japanese Pop Culture and created some fun illustrations inspired by them.

next up we have one of my favourite new products, glitter heart brooches!
All of these funky brooches are handmade (by yours truly) using top quality glitter fabric (that doesn't shed glitter!), laser cut wooden hearts, nickel-free brooch backs and a collection of cute hand-painted resin charms! There are lost of different designs to choose from and i'll have some of each with me on Saturday, so stop by the stall and treat yourself to a sparkly treat!

if glitter isn't really your thing, I also have some lovely wooden Kokeshi Doll brooches. Each one has been carefully hand decorated using satin ribbon and teeny tiny gems and pearls, a very sweet addition to any outfit i'm sure you will agree!

I will also have BRAND NEW dapper fox brooches + rainbow elephants and a whole host of other random and one-of-a-kind designs!

onto my brilliant new Girl Gang sticker sheets! each sheet contains 12 different stickers in vibrant candy colours, a must have for any wannabe Candy Doll or aspiring Girl Gang leader!

as well as all of this lovely stuff, i'll also be be bringing some Special Offer items including MEGA Mystery Goodie Boxes and Candy Doll Club Membership Packs, sticker packs, greetings cards, prints, zines, cushions, tote bags and even a few original paintings!

so you know what to do, if you're a local then get yourself to Braddan Church Hall on Saturday and snap up some sweet treats!

and don't worry if you can't make it or if you live far away, most of the goodies are available to purchase in my Etsy Shop!

that's all I have for now! i'm working on a new Candy Doll illustration so y'all can expect to see that over the next week or so.

so until next time, thanks for stopping by! hope to see you here again soon...

deck the halls?!

Hello chums, thanks for stopping by, don't be put off by the title of today's post but I have to warn you, if you're a bit of a Grinch or total Ebenezer Scrooge then you're probably not going to enjoy the rest of the blog...

Unless you've been living under a rock (or staunchly ignoring any and all traces of the festive cheer quietly brewing in virtually every shop) then you might have noticed that Christmas is on the way again at last! Now it's no secret on this blog that I am a HUGE fan of all things festive and Christmassy, I've blogged about my love of Xmas in the past many times (see here if you're interested).

Love it or loathe it, I don't think you can really ignore it! It might still be a bit early for me to get away with putting up my Christmas tree or breaking out the light up earrings but I figured it was as good a time as any for a festive themed blog post!

Now I know most people don't like seeing Christmas stuff this time of year (only 45 days to go...) but I get so excited when places start filling up with festive goods and playing Christmas songs! And well... I DON'T THINK IT'S TOO EARLY!!! Why?! because I LOVE Christmas of course!

Do you know who else loves Christmas? Well i'll give you a clue, their names begin with 'A' and 'I' and they love to dress up!

That's right, little Aalish and Illiam also can't wait for Christmas!

So today they tried on all of their new festive costumes while I warbled along to Santa Baby and cleared away all the scraps of card from the Christmas clothes sheet.

Although technically it's actually a Nollick Ghennal sheet! In case you couldn't guess, 'Nollick Ghennal' means Merry Christmas in Manx Gaelic, so once again this sheet will be sold exclusively in Sweet Ginger Emporium in Ramsey here on the Isle of Man.

the A3 sheet has a set of nice Christmas outfits for both Aalish and Illiam to try on, including a jolly snowman + a festively decorated tree

there's even a Rudolph the Reindeer mask to go with any of the costumes

+ the sheet also has a bunch of fun accessories to go with the outfits

and just like the Hop-Tu-Naa/Halloween sheet all of the clothes are interchangeable to fit both paper dolls meaning each of them can have a go at being Santa or one of his Elf helpers

are you feeling Christmassy yet? If you are then that's BRILLIANT! There's no shame in getting into the spirit of things because Christmas is such a fun time of year isn't it!

It is without a doubt my favourite time of the year, and not for the reason you might be thinking (namely PRESENTS!) but because I just LOVE all of the cheer everywhere, the decorations, the lights, all the glitter, the music, the carols, beautifully wrapped gifts, advent calendars and all of that special Christmas magic and joy that fills the air.

that's my mum Joy holding a lovely festive pillow with her name on it! You see I'm not from a very religious family so for me Christmas is more a time that heralds the arrival of my favourite season and an opportunity to buy or make lovely things to give to my friends and family. I just adore giving presents!

Although this year will probably be my most frugal Christmas since reaching adulthood (arguable really considering what a big kid I am!) but what with my no longer having a job + being unable to work at the moment this lack of income means I won't be able to spoil my loved ones quite as much this year.

Despite this, I've still been excitedly gathering gifts for them all (albeit on a much tighter budget than previous years). For a while I worried that this might put a damper on things for me this year, there have been times in the past when i've been in such a low mood come December that I haven't even bothered to put up any decorations (meaning my parents never bothered decorating the house either) but this year i'm determined to make the most of the situation and conjure up as much festive cheer as I can. If that means oodles of lopsided homemade gifts then so be it!

I visited the Christmas Shop at Tynwald earlier this week with my mum and my nephew Josh (over for a few days visiting from Coventry) and I think seeing all of the decorations and gifts and lovely tress really started to get me into the spirit of things!

don't worry, I'm not about to tinsel bomb the house or pull on my Christmas jumper (not just yet anyway) but i'm beginning to feel the warm fuzzy glow of the approaching holidays, hence why I wanted to share Aalish and Illiam's new clothes with you all today.

So I'm going to make Christmas 2014 a fun one, even if I don't have the funds for all the fabulous frivolities I usually get at this time of year. Homemade cupcakes and gingerbread for EVERYONE!

and on that note, i'll sign off for this evening. I'm popping out the Cinema to see 'Interstellar' because i'm a big sci-fi geek and I love movies!

so until next time, a very merry toodle-ooh to you and you and you...

A little bit of Nature

Hello chums, back again. No new drawings this time, although i am working on something at the moment, you'd better follow me on Instagram for sneak peaks! No today i thought i'd tell you all a little bit about one of my favourite places on this here planet that we all live on. Fortunately this place happens to be about a fifteen minute walk from my house, which is handy seeing as i love it so much!

Those of you that have followed me for a long time will know that i'm always rambling on about how pretty everything is here on the Isle of Man. It's no secret that those of us lucky enough to live here are constantly surrounded with lovely scenery and sea views from pretty much every direction (if you walk up a hill high enough this is definitely true!)

I'm sure i've mentioned before that I myself live right next to Ballaglass Glen (just one of the island's beautiful Glen's). Well it's been a while since I had a walk through the Glen by myself so I packed some fruit (for snacks!) and went off on a wander along the Public Footpath last thursday and again today this afternoon.

It was a tiny bit chiller today than the sunny, balmy day i walked last week but both days gave similar views of the lovely Glen. Despite being a Winter lover I know there might not be too many warm sun filled days left so it seemed as good a time as any for a walk, seeing as i have very little else to do all day other than to sit in my room reading, painting or watching netflix!

To get to the Glen from my house you have to trudge up a hill to turn a corner then sort of follow the path back on yourself, over two wooden gates, past some fields of Horses until you reach a lovely tree tunnel at the end of which you'll find the entrance to the Glen, just across the electric railway tracks. Walking the path is like being in a fairytale story, at any moment it feels like you might spot a fairy whizzing past your head.

The path to the Glen is often overgrown and uneven but it's a nice walk, especially when the blackberry bushes are full of fruit waiting to be picked, the path is lined with blackberry bushes taller than me. My fingers were stained purple-black by the time I actually reached the Glen! The berries were delicious.

When you walk down the steps into the Glen the sounds of the outside world are cut off, the trees keep out the nearby noises of traffic and cattle, as well as most of the sunlight, except for a few dappled patches collecting on the leaves and mossy rocks or whatever funghi have managed to stake a claim.

Colour blooms there, in the leaves above and below, even the sky seems bluer glimpsed sporadically through the branches. The ground is alight, a riotous carpet of fallen leaves glinting in a myriad of colours underfoot. It's even better once Autumn has fully taken hold, sinking its fingers into the earth, when the sunlight catches the leaves everywhere looks wreathed in flame.

I've grown up visiting the Glen, living so close to it I would often find my way there on weekends, in school holidays or after school if I needed somewhere quiet to think. I often feel like it's a sanctuary for me away from anything I might think or feel at home. It's a place to escape. And i think we all need a little place to escape to every once in a while.

No matter what troubles I carry with me on the way there, they begin to evaporate and dissipate as I walk deeper into the trees, climbing down to hop across the rocks toward the riverbed beneath the bridge where the water is quiet. It's as though the river carries my worries away with it as it burbles past, so that by the time I reach one of the louder roaring cascades of water further downstream my worries have been washed away.

I think one of the reasons i like it in there so much is because everything feels so old, so ancient. I know next to nothing about trees and woodland but i know that the Cornaa river has carved it's way through the Glen for a very long time, according to the Glen's history "The rock is grey flagstone formed from sand and mud deposited over 400 million years ago."

From the path I choose to take, you follow the Glen downwards with the river, up and down, under branches, over rocks, descending gradually until you pass through a shaded trail of horse chestnut trees, so naturally I took a moment to collect a few conkers on my way past!

The path continues to slope ever downwards through a rocky trail strewn with fallen leaves (and conkers!), if you look carefully you'll spot a Christmas tree growing amongst the Holly, although right now it's only decorated with browning fallen leaves and veiled cobwebs. There are benches at which to stop and catch your breath but you mustn't quit until you reach the clearing and the Wizard.

I said a quick hello, asked him about his books, and left him a conker.

Now usually i turn around at this point and take the other path back through the Glen but today I felt like maybe I could go a little further. All that was waiting for me at home was photoshop and a stack of books which somehow seemed less inviting than a walk in the patchy sunshine. If you carry on past the Glen you can follow the Coastal Footpath to Port Cornaa, which is precisely what I set out to do.

The coastal path is just as pretty as the Glen path, albeit slightly more uneventful. You're surrounded on both sides by towering trees, old stone walls and rolling fields. The wind stirred the leaves around my feet as I walked, following the winding river toward where it meets the Irish Sea.

It's a bit of a hike (for the eternally un-fit such as myself it is anyway!) but it's worth it for the views, and the peace. There are hardly any distractions on the walk, save for the sound of the odd tractor or a dog barking, carried on the wind from a nearby farm. It takes me about an hour to walk from the middle of the Glen to the beach at Port Cornaa, but it's a lovely walk and it definitely clears your head. Which is something I tend to need to do, a lot.

The beach itself consists entirely of pebbles (okay, and the rare patch of dark sand), so it's not the prettiest or most comfortable of seaside spots in which to spend the day, it is however incredibly calming and peaceful. In a tiny enclosed bay you can just sit and listen to the waves wash in and out, tracing their path across the rocks. All you have is the stones at your feet, the sea and the sky, stretching on for eternity. It's sights like these that make me thankful i live in such a place, it might be a bit grey sometimes and it's not exactly tropically warm, but it's my island home, and i'm very proud of it.

Anyway, i perched on the stones for a while, chomped down the tangerine i packed in my bag and let my feet rest a little before gearing myself up for the walk home. It's a lovely downhill walk to the Sea but almost entirely uphill on the way back, not that i'm complaining, the colours called out to me as i walked, my head cleared thanks to the fresh sea air and i was a placidly smiling fool by the time i made it back through the Glen. Nothing calms me down as much as nature.

Through the Glen i climbed and scrambled up, tripping over the gnarled tree roots, slipping on the fallen leaves, ambling onwards and upwards until i reached the path home. It's strange but somehow the blackberry bushes seemed even more inviting on the walk back.

Fortunately they were everywhere, so it seemed rude not to help myself to a little bundle, they were surrounding me, what was i supposed to do, just ignore them?! I think not.

In the end I made it home and had a nice cup of green tea + the blackberries mashed onto a slice of brown toast (trust me, it tasted AMAZING!) and now here I am a few hours later writing this all up for you to read. I know I tend to ramble on a bit but I hope you enjoyed my recount of the walk, it's the only way I could think of to let you all experience the Glen with me.

Next time i visit i'm sure the weather will have turned dreary, Autumn will tighten its grip and winters claws will be beginning to scratch their way through the trees. Living so close to such a place allows me to witness the ever changing colours, sights and sounds. So expect another glimpse into the Glen over the coming months.

And for now i can't think of anything else to say, i'm tired but happy and for now, that seems enough.

thanks for reading, until next time, cheerio!

May Drawing Challenge - Day 18

the theme for today was 'street sign' however, as i might have mentioned before, i live quite literally in the middle of nowhere so i'm not exactly near any street signs or even many road signs! so i decided to doodle a rather famous road sign from here in the Isle of Man, the Fairy Bridge sign...

i'm afraid it's a very wonky messy doodle only because i've had ever such a hectic day and i've been out and about for most of it so i didn't get home until tonight but i wanted to make sure i still posted a doodle for the day :)

here's what the Manx crest on the sign should look like...

and until tomorrow, i guess that's all folks... xX
