Discover Vintage ★

so today i went to Leamington for the day with my dear mama + my lovely Vintage-obsessed cousin Aimi to go and see the 'Discover Vintage: Home and Fashion Show

... for which i designed the flyers and posters!!!

it was sooo SO amazing to finally get to see one of these shows! i've been designing the flyers for them since June but this is the first one i've actually been able to visit in person

it was also the first time i got to meet Keeley, the very lovely lady that's been commissioning me to design these flyers for the past few months

it really was an amazing show though, the stalls were just divine! i think Aimi and myself were in our element! gorgeous vintage stuff left right and centre! Aimi got a few cute vintage bits

my mum didn't get anything but she did have fun trying on hats...

and i treated myself to a lovely vintage copy of 'Heidi'! it was always one of my favourite stories when i was little + i just LOVE collecting vintage books

but apart from that the place was PACKED with all manner of gorgeous vintage bits and pieces...

including some really gorgeous dresses and sets of china!

Keeley even had one of the little toy dogs EXACTLY like the one i drew for the shows flyer! she takes him to all the shows now, his name is Charles...

it was surreal to see my flyers all stacked up on display as well, weird but very cool :)

as well as the fun flyers for Keeley's vintage shop in York (see this post for more info + pics - Vintage Times) there was also one of the other flyers i designed for the Vintage Wedding Fair being held next month in London

but i'll admit that i might have gotten a little bit over-excited when i spotted my posters/flyers out and about in Leamington...

i fell in love with some of the gorgeous vintage jewellery as well! the brooch collections were to die for!

i also grabbed a copy of 'the Vintage Directory'

and was delighted to spot 'Rockalily Lipsticks' on the first page

and then later on i also spotted this...

and the venue itself was just as divine, the Pump Rooms in Leamington are so beautiful and with the lovely music from the 40's and 50's piping around the room, the setting was perfect for a vintage show

it really was a heavenly day, i absolutely adore Leamington! it's always a pleasure to visit such a beautiful town

the Vintage show was really fab and i recommend it + similar ones up and down the country

+ there were amazing stalls from the likes of -

More Tea Vicar - vintage china and kitchenalia

Rock Follies Vintage - vintage clothing, jewellery, bags and luggage

Blighty Boutique - vintage and handmade fairs

Retro Bazaar - collectables and furnishings

so it's been a busy few days here so far in Coventry, this is the first real chance i've had to post a blog since the night i got here!

the other day i spent the day in town with my gorgeous little nieces Madison and Daisy (although they're pulling funny faces here so you can't really tell how adorabubble they both are!!!)

anyway we had a great day mooching around Cov, shopping and people watching + getting stuck in car rides...

then, as a special surprise, in the evening i took them to see my favourite movie at the cinema, can you guess what we went to see...

that's right, it was GHOSTBUSTERS!!!

despite having originally come out in 1984, this week Ghostbusters is being shown at various cinemas up and down the country so i've had this planned for weeks since i was 100% determined to see this movie on the big screen

obviously... it was amazing :D

i was like a little kid in a sweet/toy shop, sooo ridiculously excited and giddy! it was brilliant though!

i've a bit more to tell you but i've got a bugger of a headache so it'll have to wait for another night!

so until next time, that's all folks... ◕‿◕ ★ xX

Lovely Letters ♥

so today i woke up at stupid o'clock (well, 6:30am is stupid for me when i'm off college) for no real reason since i decided to stay at home today and work on some commissions

look at what i made this morning though!

a new nautical themed 'anywhere clip' that you can clip to your bag, wear in your hair or pin to your outfit like a rosette, the button in the middle is an awesome old vintage one from the old tin of buttons my mum gave me (it's so old i found two ha'penny coins in the tin!)

i have a couple more of these anchor buttons left so i'll probably make a few more of these rosette anywhere clips if anyone would like one

the only downside is the total mess of ribbons that are heaped up on my bed, my desk is so pathetically small i use my bed as my desk when i'm at home, the only upside is that it's always a comfy desk!

so what else?!

well this afternoon a parcel arrived for me chock full of sheets of polka dot felt from wonderful my big sister Simone, who lives in Coventry

isn't it all gorrrgeous!

i got far too excited about it + as you can see i carefully laid it all out on my bedroom floor

i needed lots of polka dot felt for a project and seeing as NO-WHERE on the Isle of Man sells it (and because i couldn't find it on sale online) she bought a big stack of it for me from the massive Hobbycraft store in Coventry, i'm so lucky to have such a nice big sis!

but that's not all because along with the felt i also found two lovely letters from my little nieces Madison and Daisy

Daisy even drew me a 'Sweet' picture

+ there were soooooooo many kisses on Maddie's letter (and inside the envelope)

how lucky am i to have such lovely little nieces . . .

both letters say that i have to write back asap so i guess i know what i'll be doing after i write this blog post!

just quickly before i stop rambling and before i dash off to cook some food i wanted to share this amazing cross stitcher with you all,
a friend of mine told me about her and i just fell in LOVE with the work on her website, it's so gorgeous!

her name is Emily Peacock and she hand stitches the most gorgeous cushions and tapestries

aren't they lovely! she sells awesome needlepoint kits as well on her website, if you're a bit of a sewing señorita then i suggest you check out her stuff - Emily Peacock

still not sure what's happening tomorrow, it's either back to college or off round the island with Jenny

the good news is that i made some headway today with my new logo commissions, it's been quite a productive day for me really so i can't complain . . .

until next time, that's all folks ◕‿◕ ★ xX

Crazy Coventry ♥

so i didn't post this yesterday because i wanted to do the Blog Birthday post

incidentally, if you missed yesterday's post, check it out because i'm holding a little giveaway to celebrate the 2nd Birthday of my blog

you can get your hands on some cute kawaii goodies, check out the prizes + how to enter here - ♥ Blog Birthday Giveaway ♥

anyway, yesterday i got to hang out with some of my family in Coventry City Centre, namely my mum, my godmother, her daughter, her grandson and my two darling little nieces

here's a shot of the girls waiting by the fountain in the centre of town, Daisy on the left and Madison on the right

we had a fab time pottering about in the shops, one of our first stops was Paperchase (aka heaven) where the girls bought some pens + notebooks and i got some goodies for the giveaway

after that we spotted this awesome cupcake themed kitchenware display in Debenhams

just LOOK at that teapot!!! so cute!

myself + he girls collectively decided that i just HAD to have the darling little cupcake money box for my room...

after that we found some REAL cupcakes in this super sweet little bakery!

they had these gorgeous big cupcake birthday cakes + all other sorts of fabulous occasion cakes

and these adorable sparkly cupcakes!!!

they were super girly and super awesome, perfection in cupcake form...

the girls spotted this enormous shoe in the window of a shoe shop, cue window shopping poses...

so after a spot of lunch we decided to take a break outside, it was chilly but we didn't care!!!

here's my Godmother Marie, her daughter Tina and Tina's little son Dylan

this roundabout was set up in town, weirdly enough there's always been a roundabout set up here for as long as i can remember, in fact myself + my nephew Josh used to go on it when we were kids!

so naturally... little Dylan had to go on it!

what a little cutie!!!

after that we all parted ways for a bit and i was left with the girls, i decided to take them through town to see one of my fave shops, a little fairtrade + crystal store which they both loved, in fact we all left with new crystals

the shop also sells paintings by a talented local artist named John (unfortunately i don't know anything else about him but his work sure is cute)

we nipped over to the older part of town where i took the opportunity to snap a quick shot of Coventry's famous 'Lady Godiva'

then i treated the girls to a cookie from 'Ben's Cookies'

Ben's Cookies is my fave cookie cafe ever!!! there's a big Ben's Cookies cafe in Leamington which i always take the girls to and luckily they've got a small stall in Coventry as well

they're more like cakes than cookies! massive, piping hot and oozing melted chocolate... delicious!

then i thought a quick detour to Primark was in order, there was a cute girly window display full of these little tote bags, so sweet!

the girls didn't want to go to Primark but i insisted! i bought a lovely little blue dress and this gorgeous bracelet

and to my astonishment, the girls both bought identical bracelets!!!

bracelet triplets!!!

we spotted this Betty Boop themed window display as well! Boop-oop-a-doop

one of our last stops was another of my fave sops in the city, 'Miss Rush' sells all manner of kawaii bits and bobs

the girls each managed to snap up a pair of gloves... just like mine

and for some inexplicable reason, they decided to by some vampire fangs as well

scary little kids...

after that it was time to go home, so of course we needed a family shot in the lift on the way back to the car park

superstar family!!!

* * *

and that's pretty much it!

today i stayed in again to work on a tattoo design commission but i woke up feeling SOOOO ill!

i have a killer sore throat, luckily i managed to get a doctor's appointment at my sister's doctor's surgery this afternoon so i have some tablets now! hurray!

tomorrow is the day i've been looking forward to, a day in Birmingham City Centre!!! YESSSSS

ok that's all for now

until next time,

that's all folks...
