Polka Dot Love ♥

so yesterday afternoon for no particular reason other than the fact i was a little bit bored, i sat down at my desk and started sewing!

not entirely sure why but who cares! i ended up making 3 pretty little lavender hearts using polka dot felt, lots of embroidery floss, some ribbon and looooooads of dried lavender!

they're all hand stitched with the word 'love' (in my own handwriting) and blanket stitched but i whizzed them through the sewing machine as well to make sure none of the lavender will spill out! 

i messed up the lettering on the first one though so it's whip stitched while the other two are just stitched normally.

the only problem now is that my room absolutely stinks of lavender!!!

they're kind of cute though right! well i enjoyed making them so that's what counts i guess, they're all hanging from my wardrobe doors at the moment

not really sure what to do with them! should i gift them or make some more and sell them?!

who knows!

in other news, i got kind of bored again today so in between working on commission files i ended up having a go at some weird little text manips using photos and magazine scans and craft knife cut out letters smoothed out on my macbook

 i made about 10 altogether but these were my favourites, using some quotes from song lyrics, Shakespeare's Macbeth and a quote from Mary Poppins. 

not sure why i made them! boredom clearly does crazy things to my mind!

that's it for today i think, i'm heading out this weekend to pick up a few more goodies for the giveaway bundle but apart from that, no exciting plans going on in my world!!!

design stuff + blog news ★

so... today i got a lovely little comment on my blog from a girl who it turns out... is the blogs 100th follower!!!

in other news...

today i stumbled across the most awesome and frankly, genius looking iPhone cover i've ever seen!

as far as i'm concerned it's just further proof that i am DESTINED to own an iPhone, and ideally this cover too!

basically the cover is made with a cross-stitch like grid weave on the back which you can embroider with a pixel style image of your choosing!!! 

a DIY embroidery iPhone cover... actual complete and utter GENIUS!

i can't even begin to tell you how much i need this in my life! true that i don't own an iPhone but i would still LOVE one of these to sew into!

what a clever idea!!!

in fact the site i found it on was full of super duper design ideas, it's a Korean wsbsite that sells the most ingenious little gadgets and gizmos

so cute and soooo simple!

the site is called Connect Design and i spent most of this morning on there flicking through all the amazing things they have in the shop!

absolutely brilliant! if anyone owns an iPhone 4 and loves to sew... get one of those covers and send me a snap of the finished design

not much else to report on today, i've been working hard today on a new set of designs for a new project i'm not going to mention... yet!

to be honest though, i'm just HAPPY that i've finally hit 100 followers! 

and i'm excited about the giveaway times, i can't wait to start gathering up more gorgeous goodies from shops here on the island + when i go to Ireland next month

i'm thinking the giveaway will run all month, or at least until i get back from Dublin/Cork/Waterford, that'll give me the chance to get lots more prizes to add to the bundle!

ps - meant to mention, my parents got back from their fortnight away so the house is messy again (bloody parents!) but they did bring me back a HEAP of presents so it's not all bad :)

TT family times ★

so i vanished for a few days, i would have blogged earlier but i didn't get home from the TT fair until the small hours of Saturday morning, and i didn't get home last night until late because i was looking after my little cousin Sienna

oh and obviously this blog post is going to be kind of family orientated so if you despise my personal posts. . . now would be a good time to bugger off! i'll be doing a new 'Creative Café' post tomorrow evening so stay tuned for that instead!

so . . .

on friday night i actually left the house and headed into Douglas for the Senior race day firework display

it was a great night since i got to hang out with lots of my awesome cousins at the fair which was EXTRA nice because i hadn't seen them in aaaages

my cousin and little god-daughter Bonnie was there with her little sister Hanna, her brother Robson and her parents Gary and Sharon + my cousins Mandy and Marcus were there with Sienna

the kiddlywinks went on loaaaads of rides and Bonnie even managed to win a massive teddy bear!

they also all went on the old fashioned Carousel

while myself and Mandy looked after 'Diamonds' the teddy!

we all had a good giggle when Mandy and Robson went on 'the Vertigo' as well

as it got darker we made our way down the busy prom to find a spot to watch the show

and to be honest we couldn't have picked a better place to stop! we must have had one of the best views of the display

in other news, i bumped into my friend Yvonne yesterday as well and she gave me a belated birthday present. . . full of the most awesome stuff!!!

there's a lovely embroiderer's guild embroidery kit + embroidery hoop

a 'make do and mend' postcard, a lovely embroidery stitch booklet and a 'Frida' card from Purplecatscorner

there was also this amaaaaazing badge which i love for obvious reasons!!!

so what else?! well i bought myself a new dress yesterday + some pretty flowery headbands

it's the first time i've been shopping in about a month and a half (no. . . i'm not exaggerating! really!!) so i figured i could treat myself to something

Just Enough ♥

So apologies for lack of posts, my Sunday post idea was ruined when I woke up to discover that it had been raining overnight meaning that the Glen had been transformed into a marvellously muddy mess!

and yesterday my blogging plan was once again thwarted when my brand new business cards failed to be delivered on time meaning that i had nothing to blog about!!! (monday's are always kind of boring for me though so no surprises there)

anyway on with todays post...

so this morning I actually woke up relatively early (ok so 8:43am is very early for me on one of my days off!!!) saw that the sun was shining, threw on a Spring style dress and tagged along with my mum to Onchan for a bit

I had an ulterior motive for going out though because on the way back home we managed to stop at the 'Just Enough' shop again in Laxey

and this time I had my camera with me...

after a quick natter with the owner + another jolly potter around the shop I whipped out my trusty little camera and got snapping

so let me show you around the store...

well here we have the amazing haberdashery section chock full of haberdashery loveliness

and the most beautiful selection of ribbons...

and fabrics...

and embroidered sashes and cords and sequined things

and more ribbons (+ other awesome crafty bits and bobs)

and through into the next room which is full of the most incredible fabric swatch books for soft furnishings, there's also this gorgeous chandelier hanging in the window

and this truly EPIC big 'J' cushion (which i need and want and neeeeeeed)

back through to the other side where there's another amazing chandelier hanging in the other window...

and these awesome glittery crystal studded skulls...

which are also telephones!!!!!! (may need one of these as well)

and on the display shelf at the bottom there's a whole bunch of Betty Boop's (oh hey Betty)

+ a pretty basket full of multicoloured fluffy chicks, just in time for Easter...

and this cushion covered in the most wonderful array of brooches

next to it is this Betty Boop chair + cushion (yes... i need these as well)

and when i knelt down on the floor to look at the crafty card making bits i spotted these frankly quite magical oversized pencil crayons (and before you ask... i want them ALL)

everywhere you look there's something cute to look at, even behind the counter there's this sweet little shelf full of handmade creations and sewing bits

in fact the counter itself is something to behold, just check out that awesome old fashioned antique till

and last but not least, the massive Betty Boop statuette standing guard next to the counter

what did i tell you...

it's actually ME in shop form!!!

i literally cannot resist the place it's just all so gorgeous!

in fact, here's what I bought during todays visit ...

some more ribbon, red this time

a cute little ice cream brooch + a mini rubber duck keyring (which may or may not be for my next giveaway... haven't decided yet)

a gorgeous pair of little embroidery scissors because i don't actually own a pair of embroidery scissors! despite all my embroidery times... no fancy scissors!

a big swathe of amaing cupcake printed fabric, i haven't a clue what i'll use it for but i had to get it... CUPCAKES!!!

and this selection of adorabubble buttons

and look, even the shopping bag came tied with this lovely 'just enough interiors' ribbon

it's all so, so divine!

the plan is for me to head into Doolish town centre tomorrow for some crafty/arty retail therapy + a quick fringe trim (so thrilling!)

however I feel somewhat under the weather today and i'm not sure if i'll feel better or worse tomorrow morning!
